Home to the Oracle of Delphi, the most prestigious oracle of the time. According to legend, Zeus released two eagles from opposite ends of the earth, and they met at Delphi, establishing it as the navel of the world. The sanctuary of Delphi was dedicated to Apollo, the god of prophecy, music, and healing. Pilgrims from all over the ancient world would travel to consult the Pythia, the high priestess of Apollo, who delivered cryptic prophecies while in a trance-like state induced by vapors rising from a chasm in the earth. These prophecies guided individuals and city-states on matters ranging from personal problems to political strategies.

The site of Delphi is an extensive One featuring the Temple of Apollo, where the oracle delivered her prophecies, the ancient theater, which could seat 5,000 spectators and offers an incredible mountain view, and the stadium that hosted the Pythian Games. Additionally, the site includes numerous treasuries built by various Greek city-states to house offerings to Apollo, the most famous being the Treasury of the Athenians.
